These terms govern your use of the Speedcoach Android application ("the app"). By installing or using Speedcoach, you agree to these terms.

1. What Speedcoach is

Speedcoach is a driving aid that shows your current speed and warns you about speed cameras ahead, using a combination of GPS positioning and a database of camera locations. It is designed to help you drive within posted limits and avoid surprises — it is not a substitute for attentive driving.

2. Accuracy disclaimer — read this section carefully

Camera location data is community-verified and may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Some cameras in the app's database have not yet been independently verified and are clearly marked "Unverified" in the app. Cameras are added, moved, and removed in the real world faster than any database can guarantee to track.

Speedcoach is a driving aid, not a guarantee. The app may fail to warn you about a camera that exists, may warn you about a camera that has been removed, or may show an incorrect speed limit or no speed limit at all for a stretch of road.

You remain responsible for observing posted speed limits and traffic laws at all times, regardless of what the app shows or does not show. Do not rely on Speedcoach as your sole means of knowing the speed limit or the location of enforcement cameras. A missing or incorrect alert from Speedcoach is never a defence against a traffic citation, and we do not accept liability for fines, penalties, or damages arising from reliance on the app's alerts or displayed speed limit.

Where the app does not have a confirmed speed limit for a road, it will show -- rather than guess — a blank reading means "unknown," not "no limit."

3. Account and eligibility

You must be a licensed driver to use Speedcoach as intended, and you must comply with your local laws regarding phone use while driving (for example, mounting the phone securely and not manually interacting with it while the vehicle is in motion). You are responsible for all activity under your account.

4. Speedcoach Pro subscription

Speedcoach offers an optional paid tier, Speedcoach Pro, which removes the monthly limit on camera alerts (the free tier includes 50 camera alerts per calendar month; live speed display and overspeed warnings are always free and unlimited).

• Speedcoach Pro is sold exclusively through Google Play Billing, as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription. We do not sell subscriptions directly, and the app will never ask you to pay outside Google Play.
• Pricing is shown in the app and on this website for information only; the price and billing terms in your Google Play purchase confirmation are authoritative.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time through your Google Play account — Google Play's own subscription terms and refund policy govern the purchase itself.
• If a subscription payment fails, Google Play's standard grace period applies before Pro features are suspended.

5. Camera reports

If you report a camera as incorrect, missing, or newly present, that report is reviewed by our moderation process before it changes the app's data for other users. Reports are made in good faith on your behalf but we do not guarantee any particular report will be actioned within a specific timeframe.

6. Prohibited use

You may not: reverse-engineer the app to extract the camera database for redistribution; use the app to assist in evading legitimate traffic enforcement beyond its intended driving-aid purpose; or attempt to circumvent the free-tier alert limit through technical means.

7. Data and privacy

Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect and why — including that your GPS trace is processed on-device and never uploaded.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose, except where such warranties cannot be excluded by Kenyan law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Kenyan law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including traffic fines, penalties, or vehicle incidents — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and any disputes arising from them are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
